CD to feature Adkins, Yearwood, Lonestar.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, the Lebanon, Tenn.-based restaurant and gift shop chain, will unveil later today its latest exclusive CD venture, the "Songs of the Year" collection. Since creating its own music label in 2003, Cracker Barrel has sold more than 2.5 million CDs.

The "Songs of the Year" CD will be released Oct. 3, followed by a Nov. 5 concert at the Schermerhorn Symphony Hall in Nashville. Available exclusively at Cracker Barrel locations and online at crackerbarrel.com, this CD features country artists performing songs that earned "Song of the Year" recognition from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music or Grammy awards.

Among the songs are Trace Adkins performing "Sunday Morning Comin' Down," Trisha Yearwood singing "Back Home Again," and a George Jones/Dierks Bentley recording of "Murder On Music Row." With a retail price of $11.99, the 12-track CD will also include cuts by Lonestar, the Wreckers, Blake Shelton, Randy Travis and Jo Dee Messina, plus duets by Willie Nelson and Jack Ingram, Deana Carter and Heart, and Jamie O'Neal with Michael McDonald.

Many of these artists will perform at the invitation-only Songs of the Year concert. The event will be part of the official festivities associated with the annual CMA Awards show in Nashville.

The deal was orchestrated by Cracker Barrel chief marketing officer Simon Turner, Vector Management president Ken Levitan, and Marcie Allen Cardwell, president of MAC Presents. Cracker Barrel and Vector will donate $125,000 from CD proceeds to the not-for-profit Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

The "Songs of the Year" release is the latest in Cracker Barrel's growing collection of exclusive CDs. The Cracker Barrel label also features music from Alison Krauss & Union Station, Amy Grant, Sara Evans, the Charlie Daniels Band and the Grand Ole Opry Live Classics series.
