BMG Music Publishing has signed up-and-coming U.K. band Cat the Dog to a long-term publishing deal.

The Brighton-based band is managed by Rob Swerdlow, Mark Nicholson and Dave Nicoll, who are also behind U.K. newcomer rock act the Kooks (Virgin); the Kooks is currently in the top five of the Official U.K. Albums Chart with "Inside In/Inside Out."

Cat The Dog recently supported rising Welsh act the Automatic (B Unique/Polydor), which recently had a Top 5 U.K. hit single with "Monster."

The band, which is recording its first single for Virgin Records, is scheduled for a Sept. 12-23 U.K. tour, kicking off at Northampton's Soundhaus.

BMG Music Publishing A&R manager Mark Gale commented: "Cat The Dog are a truly thrilling, authentic rock 'n' roll band who radiate charisma. We are really looking forward to working closely with the band."
