Label headed by booking agent Ash Avildsen.

Chicago-based rock label Victory Records has added Sumerian Records to its roster of third-party distributed labels. The Washington, D.C.-based Sumerian was founded by booking agent Ash Avildsen.

Avildsen reps such acts as Animosity, Caliban, Dead to Fall, Ed Gein, Into the Moat, Ion Dissonance, Ignite, Napalm Death and Vader, among others. Sumerian's initial releases through Victory -- rock acts the Faceless and Too Pure To Die -- are due Nov. 14.

The Sumerian deal comes about one week after the Lumberjack Mordam Music Group announced that it had signed Lobster Records, but Victory chief Tony Brummel notes that the label is still under contract to Victory. Lumberjack president/COO Tim Hinsley declines to comment, and Lobster president Steve Lubarsky did not return calls.
