U.K. affiliate tipped for Spring 2007.

Web-based royalty processing specialist RoyaltyShare is expanding its services into Europe, Billboard.biz has learned.

San Diego-based RoyaltyShare's chairman Bob Kohn tells Billboard.biz that various pilot projects are already on the go in Europe, ahead of a planned U.K. office opening in spring 2007.

Kohn is co-founder of eMusic and co-author of "Kohn on Music Licensing" with his father, Al Kohn. He has also served as vice chairman of Borland Software Corp.

Intellectual property and technology issues expert Allen Dixon is serving as legal advisor to the European set-up for RoyaltyShare. London-based Dixon was general counsel for the IFPI until July 2005, when he returned to private practice.

RoyaltyShare was established in 2005 to help labels and copyright owners to manage digital royalty accounting data.

In the United States, RoyaltyShare is currently working with about 40 independent music labels, including Koch, Epitaph and Sanctuary U.S.

The company has been shortlisted for the third annual Popkomm Innovation in Music and Entertainment Award in the category of digital music & marketing innovations, B2B solutions. The winner will be unveiled next Wednesday (Sept. 20) during the annual Popkomm trade fair in Berlin.
