Suresh Thangiah will be the new GM at Mumbai-based EMI Virgin India, with effect from Oct. 3.

Thangiah confirmed that he would take over duties from outgoing GM Shamir Tandon, whose contract expired last week.

Thangiah joins from Mumbai-based independent Times Music where he was executive VP. At EMI Virgin India, Thangiah will report to Singapore-based Mohan Mahapatra, GM, India-Singapore, EMI Virgin.

Tandon says he would now concentrate on "creative projects."

EMI Virgin India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EMI, is also the licensee for Warner Bros. Records here.
