Nielsen BDS is expanding its monitoring service network by adding more than 140 stations in 11 new markets. As a result, BDS will now monitor 1680 radio stations in 190 markets.
"The music industry relies on Nielsen BDS as its source for comprehensive performance information from key radio stations," Nielsen Music president Rob Sisco said in a prepared statement. "This expansion is in keeping with our commitment to provide our clients with the marketing information they need to make critical business decisions."
Nielsen BDS provides data to determine airplay charts in both Billboard and its sister publication, Radio & Records. In addition, USA Today publishes a national radio airplay chart weekly, compiled from Arbitron and Nielsen BDS data.
