Deal to exploit catalog for recordings, advertising.

Couch Music Publishing in Vienna has signed a long-term exclusive administration contract in which Berlin-based Budde Musikverlage will market Couch’s works for recordings, advertising and other uses of music in the German market.

The 20-year-old Couch Music, which specializes in world music, has already sold synchronization rights for its repertoire to advertising agencies for major brand names such as Hugo Boss, jeans maker Levi Strauss & Co., Apple Computer, U.K. retail giant Marks & Spencer, Mercedes Benz, Bombay Sapphire, and wireless network T-Mobile. Its music has also been used in international hit TV shows such as "Sex And The City," "Six Feet Under" and "Nip/Tuck."

"During the last five years, Couch repertoire has been released on over 250 different international compilations with sales of over 2.5 million units," added Prof. Dr. Rolf Budde, who unveiled the deal at Popkomm in Berlin.
