Abeano Music to discover, develop new talent.

Independent label XL Recordings, part of the U.K.-based Beggars Group, has launched a new imprint called Abeano Music for discovering and developing new talent.

The new London-based unit has been formed with Imran Ahmed, DJ, music journalist and music entrepreneur.

Ahmed was already working with three acts that will now be part of the new unit. They are Liverpool-based electro/power pop band To My Boy; Nottingham-based alternative pop group I Was A Cub Scout; and grunge duo Blood Red Shoes.

Ahmed will handle Abeano's A&R but will have access to XL's marketing, promotion, media and distribution resources.

"Imran is going to bring us fresh, new artists and we are going to give him help on a number of levels and the benefit of our experience to get some great new music into the marketplace," said Richard Russell, XL's CEO.
