Culminating a one-month investigation, Argentine customs officials seized three million blank CD-Rs and DVDs Jan. 4 at the port of Buenos Aires.

The investigation was prompted by discrepancies between the declared and actual weight of the shipments. The fact that the goods originated from Taiwan prompted a more thorough investigation. Custom officials, working in conjunction with APDIF -- the local IFPI office -- requested original import documents. When the importers never showed up, the three containers were seized as suspected contraband.

The estimated retail value of the seizure is $8 million.
