Norteno icons Los Tigres del Norte will be honored as BMI Icons at the performing right organization's upcoming 14th annual Latin Awards Ceremony taking place March 23 in Las Vegas. Los Tigres, regarded as the most iconic and respected norteno group in the marketplace, with over three decades of history, will be saluted for their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers."

Past BMI Icons include Latin stars Juan Luis Guerra, and Carlos Santana as well as Brian Wilson, Isaac Hayes and Paul Simon.

Known as "Los Jefes de Jefes" (The Bosses of Bosses), Los Tigres del Norte
are known as much for their music and top selling albums as for their social and political messages and reach.

The multi Grammy winning group group was recently featured at Billboard's first Regional Mexican Music summit.

The BMI Latin Awards will also recognize the songwriters and publishers of the past year's top BMI Latin songs played on American radio and television. Awards will be given in the Latin song of the year, publisher of the year and songwriter of the year categories, among others.
