Latin superstar Gloria Estefan will host a gala on Feb. 9 at her Miami Beach, Fla., home to benefit the Gloria Estefan Foundation. Proceeds from the event will go to the Miami Children's Hospital Brain Institute, which serves children suffering from neurological disorders.

The VIP gala, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, will be attended by some 300 people, and will feature a live concert performance by Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.

The Gloria Estefan Foundation was created more than 10 years ago and benefits multiple humanitarian endeavors. Most recently, a $1 million donation was given to the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis to launch a Human Clinical Trials program.

The foundation has always been funded through the business and personal ventures of Estefan and her husband, producer Emilio Estefan. This is the first time the foundation reaches out to the community to raise money.
