Brooklyn rapper, Joel Ortiz, performed Jan. 19 at New York City's B.B. King's and announced repeatedly that he was the first "Puerto Rican from Brooklyn signed to Aftermath." Actually Dr. Dre's Aftermath label signed the rapper in late 2006. However he's preparing his debut album entitled, "The Brick (Bodega Chronicles)" for release April 24 through Koch Records.

According to Koch and Ortiz's management, the release of "The Brick (Bodega Chronicles)," is a one-off deal for the rapper's debut and Aftermath is fine with the Koch release. Aftermath was unavailable for comment at press time.
