Virtual world Second Life is getting serious about business. It recently held a contest to find the company with the best business plan for operating within the popular online "game."

The winner, Market Truths, developed a market research and analysts program designed to help real-life companies market themselves and conduct business in the virtual world.

Among the other finalists was an music distribution system designed specifically for Second Life by a three-person team from Turkey. The system centers on virtual jukeboxes, which virtual store owners would place in their venues to offer visitors the chance to browse, stream and even buy music-with store owners getting a cut of each sale.
