Venezuelan singer/songwriter Franco De Vita, author of a long line of pop songs that have become virtual anthems in Latin America, will be honored with the ASCAP Latin Heritage Award.

De Vita will be honored during the 15th annual 2007 ASCAP Latin music awards, which take place March 21 at New York City's Nokia Theater.

The awards will honor ASCAP's top Latin songwriters and compositions. De Vita, who has been a frequent recipient of ASCAP awards in past years, most recently released "Mil y Una Historias" (One Thousand and One Stories), a live CD/DVD featuring some of De Vita's greatest hits as well as new collaborations with various artists.

De Vita's hits include "El Buen Perdedor" and "Vuelve," among many others.
