ZZ Top, Evanescence and Velvet Revolver are among the acts scheduled to play this year's inaugural Rock on the Range festival, set for May 19 at the 22,555-seat Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

The one-day music event, produced by Right Arm Entertainment and AEG Live, will go on sale March 10 with a $49.50 ticket price. About 30,000 tickets will be made available to the public this year, according to Joe Litvag, VP of Midwest operations at AEG Live.

Litvag tells Billboard.biz that Right Arm Entertainment's Gary Spivack and Del Williams approached him several months ago wanting to create a straight-ahead rock festival in the Midwest.

"We took a hard look at the entire region and tried to come up with a location that would be central to several major markets, as well as secondary and tertiary markets," Litvag explains. "Secondly, I have an incredible partnership in place with our allies at Crew Stadium. We have a large space conducive to the festival atmosphere with plenty of room to grow in future years."

Other acts scheduled to play the festival include Hinder, Chevelle, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Puddle of Mud, the Operator and Black Stone Cherry.

"We're trying to appeal to the straight-ahead rock fan," Litvag says. "Given the stellar rock lineup that [Spivack] and [Williams] at Right Arm have put together, I think we've got a great shot to move every ticket."

Additional bands will be announced at a later time.
