Jazz saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch, guitarist John Etheridge and pianist Gwilym Simcock will battle it out in the musician category at this year's All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group Awards.

Other categories include best CD, venue, ensemble and services to jazz.

The event will take place at the House of Commons in London on April 24, and will be hosted by veteran broadcaster Paul Gambaccini.

Mercury Music Prize nominee Zoƫ Rahman, a winner at last year's jazz awards, will perform on the evening.

The APPJAG has more than 120 members from the House of Commons and House of Lords, who aim to raise interest among parliamentarians on jazz and issues affecting the jazz music industry.

London-based U.K. music industry service company PPL will sponsor the event.
