eMusic is teaming with clothing retailer Urban Outfitters on a co-sponsored concert series during South by Southwest (SXSW) in which music from the performances will be recorded and made available through the web sites of both companies.

Performances run March 15 - 17 at the Urban Outfitters in Austin, Tx. And several weeks later will be distributed online through eMusic and urbanoutfitters.com.

All the live tracks will be available exclusively as downloads through eMusic for a year, while select tracks will be available for free on the playlist page at Urbanoutfitters.com for a limited time.

Participating artists include The Broken West (Merge), Snowden (Jade Tree), 120 Days (Vice), Rock Plaza Central (Yep Roc) and Frightened Rabbit, an unsigned band from Glasgow.

eMusic and Urban Outfitters are promoting the effort by giving away co-branded gift cards in Urban Outfitters stores, good for a 35-track free trial of eMusic and ten free tracks from the performing artists. Urban Outfitters is also offering five free songs from the participating artists on its playlist page on Urbanoutfitters.com.

The deal is part of a year-old marketing alliance between the two companies.
