Music-based social networking and Internet radio service Last.fm has increased its music catalog through a deal with The Orchard, a digital distributor of independent music. The deal brings about a million new licensed tracks to the popular service, which focuses on music recommendations and playlists shared by its users, estimated at about 15 million. Last.fm previously has struck similar licensing deals with Warner Music Group and EMI.
