The impact of the iPhone, ringtones and of course, DRM were all topics of discussion at the SXSW music festival last week.

Panelists -- including executives from Motorola, Cingular, Verizon, Sony BMG and Napster -- in a discussion titled: "Come Together: Mobile Phones and Portable Music Players Converge" found several points of agreement:

1) Ringtones and ringback tones are here to stay;

2) the iPhone will help grow awareness of mobile music; and

3) major labels won't distribute music sans DRM anytime soon.
