Jazz journalist and radio producer Sim Simons died March 20. Simons, who had suffered from a long-term illness which forced him out of radio work in 1999, was 68.

Simons debuted with the Belgian national broadcaster VRT in 1968 with his radio show "Jazz voor de jeugd" ('Jazz for youngsters'). He later helmed a six-volume radio show on Cannonball Adderley, which aired on VRT's Radio 3 channel.

Simons also co-wrote such books like "The finest in Belgian Jazz" and "Jazz in Little Belgium." Belgian royalty collecting society Sabam honored him in 2005 with the "Muse" award for his contributions to Belgian jazz.
