Alasdair George, the former senior VP of legal and business affairs at Sony BMG U.K., has joined London-based advisory and investment firm Edge Group, with effect from April 16.

Based in London, he will report to Edge Group founder David Glick.

During his 13 years' service at Sony BMG, he handled the amalgamation of Sony and Warner's distribution businesses, the U.K. and Irish aspects of the Sony BMG merger and the re-signing of George Michael in 2003. He has sat on the management boards of Sony Music/Sony BMG Music U.K. and PPL for ten years, as well as the council of the BPI for seven years.

During his eight years in private practice, George has represented high-profile clients such as Blur, Sade, Happy Mondays, Stereo MCs and Island Records.

George left Sony BMG last year to launch his own consultancy.

Edge Group, comprises a law firm, a corporate finance business, consultancy and an asset management arm, and specializes in advising and investing in the media and entertainment sector.
