Warner Music Group revealed a partnership with Acclaim to develop an Internet-based dance game called DANCE! Online.

The free PC game allows users to create custom avatars that dance with up to six other players in a virtual environment. Players can control their characters' movements via a dancepad connected to their computer—essentially performing the moves in real life—or simply using the computer keyboard.

The music in the game consists of licensed master recordings from WMG. At this time, WMG is the only label licensing content for the game, but Acclaim says it hopes to sign other majors in the near future.

WMG artists will make personal appearances within the game in avatar form and interacting with fans. The first set for an appearance is Atlantic Records artist Cupid.

Additionally, the game will feature personalized virtual items for players to purchase, such as artist-branded clothing and accessories.

DANCE! Online is available now in beta mode, with a full launch expected later this year.
