Walt Disney Records will release "What Time Is It" the first single from "High School Musical 2" on July 17.

In addition to being made available through digital retailers that day, the track will be offered as a physical CD single at retail that will come complete with a fold-out poster and a link to view sneak peek footage from the Disney original made-for-TV movie. The CD single will be the first physical single released by Disney in over a decade and carries a suggested price of $1.99.

The track debuted at Radio Disney on May 25. It will not be serviced to mainstream radio.

"What Time Is It" is a cast recording that features a number of breakout performers from the last movie including Corbin Bleu, and Vanessa Hudgens who now have recording contracts with Hollywood Records, and Ashley Tisdale who is signed to Warner Bros. Records. It was written by Matthew Gerrard (Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson) and Robbie Nevil (Destiny's Child, Melissa Etheridge, Stevie Wonder) -- the duo that penned some of the most popular songs from the original "HSM"

"HSM" was the top selling album of 2006 selling almost 4 million units last year and spawning nine charting singles on the Hot 100.

Walt Disney Records is scheduled to release the "High School Musical 2" soundtrack on August 14. The movie bows Aug. 17 on The Disney Channel.
