So what do you do after establishing one of the most successful tech-news blogs on the Internet? Apparently, retire and start a record label.

The New York Post reported that Engadget founder Peter Rojas is teaming up with Downtown Records to create a digital-only label that will offer free music in return for advertising and sponsorships.

The label, called RCRD LBL, is scheduled to launch this fall, according to the story.
Of particular interest are plans to somehow incorporate a blog-like architecture to the site, essentially making it a hybrid label/music service. Downtown Records will identify the artists to pursue and feature, while Rojas will present their content online in a blog-like format.

Advertisers and sponsors can then take advantage of a three-tiered sponsorship package, including contests, podcasts and "singles of the week."
