Virgin Mobile USA has partnered with MTV2 and Kyocera Wireless for “Book the Band by Virgin Mobile,” an upcoming short-form program that allows viewers to choose an opening band for the Aug. 4-5 Virgin Festival in Baltimore.

“Book the Band by Virgin Mobile” debuts June 15 on MTV2, appearing weekly as segments on the network’s “T-Minus Rock” and “Subterranean” programs through the end of July.

The segments will profile up-and-coming rock acts Aiden, Cold War Kids, the Higher, Mute Math and Say Anything. At the end of each episode, viewers will be directed to, where they can vote for their favorite act. The winning band will be given a slot on the festival's second day.

Along with the Web site, fans will also be given the option to vote via text message by sending a band’s short code name. Voting ends July 20, and the winner will be announced a week later on MTV2. Episodes will also appear in July on MTV2’s “Saturday Rock” series, with additional content -- including MP3s and tour dates -- to be featured on the Virgin Festival Web site.

As previously reported, the bill for the second-year Virgin Festival at Pimlico Race Course includes the Police, the Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, Modest Mose, Velvet Revolver, Wu-Tang Clan, Cheap Trick, the Fratellis, Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, the Crystal Method, 311, Incubus, Chris Cornell, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio, Bad Brains and Fountains Of Wayne, among others.
