Radio stations are using P2P networks to research what hot songs they should include in their playlists, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Premiere Radio Networks and other radio outfits are partnering with P2P tracking firm BigChampagne to get a sense what songs are downloaded most from various file-sharing networks. Even major labels like Universal Music Group track P2P traffic to influence what songs to pitch to radio.
