With five nominations including best pop artist, best solo artist and artist of the year, Mexican pop star Belinda leads the list of nominees announced today for this year's Premios MTV Latin America. Spain's Alejandro Sanz and Argentina's Babasonicos each follow with four nominations, while Division Minuscula, Julieta Venegas, Mana, Panda, Paulina Rubio, Gustavo Cerati, Miranda! and Kudai each have three nominations.

The awards show will air live in 24 countries from Mexico City's Palacio de los Deportes on Oct. 18 at 11 p.m. ET. It will also be shown on MTV2 and MTV Tr3s in the U.S. and on some non-cable channels in Latin America.

Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, Café Tacuba and the Cure are scheduled to perform on the program. Three new award categories have been added this year: "Fashionista Award," for best dressed celebrity; "Best Urban Artist Award" for best R&B, rap, hip hop or reggaeton; and the "Influencia Award" honoring an influential artist with a long career.

Stateside viewers will be able to vote for MTV Tr3s viewers' choice awards by phone and text message and can vote in all categories online starting Sept. 12. The winners of MTV Tr3s' awards for pop artist, new artist and urban artist will be announced on the Mexico City telecast.

Winners of the "Promising Artist" and "Independent Artist" awards are chosen by MTV executives. José Tillán will executive-produce "Los Premios MTV Latinoamerica 2007," and MTV awards show and "Unplugged" veteran Audrey Morrissey will produce the show.
