The first part of BET’s three part series "Hip-Hop Vs. America" will kick-off tonight.

Among many topics, the show will discuss hip-hop's criminality, law enforcement relationships and African American female images in music.

The series is hosted by reporters Toure and Jeff Johnson, and MC's Nelly, T.I., Mike Jones, Chuck D. are slated as panelists along with authors Karrine "Superhead" Steffans, Nelson George and Keith Boykin.

NPR's Farai Chideya, BET's Kim Osorio will also participate along with Minister Ben Chavis, Reverend Al Sharpton, TV personality Judge Mablean Ephraim and Diane Weathers, formerly of Essence Magazine.

Part one airs tonight on BET at 8:00. The second segment airs September 26 and the third segment will be available on's "BET on Blast" page.
