The Nielsen Company unveiled new Internet and mobile measurement services designed to track two of the hotter areas of digital activity today -- blogs and mobile.

Nielsen Online combines the company's Nielsen/NetRatings and BuzzMetrics services to track and analyze online traffic, advertising, videos, blogs, consumer-generated media, word-of-mouth and consumer behavior and commerce trends.

Nielsen Mobile integrates the newly-acquired Telephia mobile measuring service with several existing Nielsen services to track usage trends, content consumption and other factors related to the mobile content field.

Itzhak Fisher, former executive chairman of BuzzMetrics, will oversee the Nielsen Online unit, while former Telephia CEO Sid Gorham will run Nielsen Mobile.

The Nielsen Company is the parent company of Billboard Magazine.
