Universal Music Germany has signed a cooperative agreement with German hip hop label Aggro Berlin.
Through the new arrangement, UMG will partner for marketing, promotion and the distribution of Aggro Berlin recordings.
Neither party disclosed further details of the deal, apart from noting that Aggro will remain independent in its status as a label and in its creative decisions.
The first joint releases will be on new album releases by German hip hop act Fler in January, followed by singer Sido in March 2008.
"Aggro Berlin is an indie label that has had a massive influence on the German hip-hop market in the past six years," comments Frank Briegmann, CEO Universal Music Germany, in a statement. "We are very pleased that it sees Universal as its optimum partner for the future."
Tom Bohne, managing director of Universal domestic division, adds: "AGGRO Berlin and Universal Music make an ideal fit in the present climate. We are very happy about our shared future and are sure that we make an excellent match for one another."
Other acts signed to the Aggro label are Specter, Spaiche and Halil, B-Tight, Tony D and Kitty Kat.
