Luther Campbell, the leader of popular 1990s hip-hop group 2 Live Crew, is launching a multimedia company which will operate under the NASDAQ symbol (LKEN).

The Luke Entertainment Group, which is the first company taken public by a hip-hop artist, according to a statement, will offer consumers video tones, downloadable web content, and will operate a sports marketing and music division. Campbell will serve as the company’s chief creative officer.

"The Luke Entertainment Group will be an example of the influence hip-hop music has on the economy and how our culture directly impacts technology and consumer spending," said Campbell via a statement. "This will also serve as an opportunity for me to teach the hip-hop culture the power of investing, as many people are probably unfamiliar with Wall Street and how it can help improve your
long term wealth."
