Napster Inc. reported a narrower quarterly loss on Wednesday, beating Wall Street consensus estimates, as revenues rose.

The company said its fiscal third-quarter net loss was $2.8 million, or 6 cents per share, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $9.5 million, or 22 cents a share.

Net revenue rose to $32.8 million from $28.4 million. Analysts, on average, had looked for a loss of 12 cents a share on revenues of $32.9 million. Its shares closed down 9 cents, or 5 percent, to $1.73 a share.
