Snoop Dogg will be the subject of an animated pilot ordered by Comedy Central, the cable channel revealed on Wednesday as it unveiled its 2008-09 development slate.

The still-unnamed half-hour show will be executive produced by Snoop and Tom Lynch, and will feature Snoop as a 15-year-old growing up in 1980s Long Beach.

Another pilot ordered by Comedy Central includes "Search and Destroy," a scavenger hunt that will pit teams of comedians against each other in New York City. Radio personalities Opie & Anthony will host.

And while a pilot is no guarantee that a show will get ordered for a full season, it's a good indication that the channel's brass believe the idea is worth the investment to produce at least one episode for review.

"This year's development slate features an incredibly diverse and versatile array of talent and concepts," says Lauren Corrao, president of original programming and development at Comedy Central. "Our core viewers expect nothing short of the best comedy options and continue to connect with the brad we've built. We're confident that these ideas will resonate with them and will continue to grow the network's success into the coming year."
