Fairmont Hotels & Resorts luxury chain will launch a digital music retail service for guests at its various properties. It initially has licensed music only from EMI Music Group, taking advantage of the label's DRM-free strategy, which will allow Fairmont to sell music compatible with all guests' MP3 players.

The initiative is scheduled to go live this spring. While all guests can access the content, Fairmont President's Club members will gain additional access to exclusive tracks and special events, including concerts featuring EMI artists. Additionally, Fairmont intends to customize music offerings to individual guests based on their travel preferences.

Fairmont and EMI joined forces late last year to distribute music via the hotel chains' Fairmont Fit program, which provides loaner digital music players with EMI music to guests using the hotel's fitness rooms and health clubs.
