Mobile entertainment provider Viva Vision and Univision Movil are partnering to develop content for U.S. consumers.

The companies' first initiative uses Viva Vision's slideshow application to display still images from Univision's library onto wireless handsets. Those images include TV personalities and models that have been featured on Univision's shows, such as Las Senadoras from "Republica Deportiva."

The application allows users to pause, rewind, fast-forward and save images from the slideshow. Featured content is determined by subscriber votes. The slideshow product is available on Verizon, Alltel, Metro PCS, Claro Puerto Rico and Centennial Puerto Rico, with new carriers expected to be announced. The monthly fee goes from $4.49 to $4.99 depending on the carrier.

In addition to the slideshow application, Viva Vision offers video streaming and video on demand. The partnership with Univision Movil may grow to encompass video in addition to still images, says Viva Vision president Nicholas Montes.
