Franz Ferdinand, Sigor Ros and Interpol are among the major names booked to play at the leftfield U.K. festival Latitude. Others acts confirmed on the bill are Death Cab For Cutie, Elbow, the Breeders, Amadou and Mariam, and M.I.A.

The third annual performing arts event, which combines an eclectic mix of music with theater, comedy, performance, poetry and a literary forum, will be held July 17-20 in Suffolk, England.

Details of Latitude 2008 were revealed at a launch party tonight in London's West End, coinciding with the start of ticket sales.

Latitude is the brainchild of Melvin Benn, which the veteran promoter developed and organized with his team at London-based live music firm Festival Republic.

"The festival is growing and building organically, and we've covered all the right bases to make it an amazing experience this year," Benn tells Billboard.biz.

Sponsors on board include publisher Penguin Classics, and drinks companies Pimm's and Aspall. Media partners are music magazine Uncut, and BBC Radio 4, which will broadcast live from the site at Henham Park, Southwold.
