The third annual "VH1 Rock Honors" event will celebrate The Who, with the airing of a tribute concert taped at Pauley Pavilion on UCLA's campus.

Those participating in the concert have yet to be revealed by VH1; however, the cable network says The Who will take the stage as part of the tribute. The concert will be filmed July 12, and will air on VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD on July 17 at 9 p.m. for two hours.

Besides live performances, "VH1 Rock Honors" will include spoken tributes and video packages dedicated to the band.

"For me, The Who defined the rock era. Their music truly pushed boundaries, connected with millions of rock fans and inspired countless bands to fulfill their own musical destinies," said Tom Calderone, executive VP and GM, VH1.

Previous honorees for "VH1 Rock Honors" have included Genesis, Heart, Ozzy
Osbourne and ZZ top; this year is the first time the program will focus on
just one band.
