Ice Cube is set to star in a new film entitled "Janky Promoters" via Dimension Films. The film is the first that Ice Cube penned since his "Friday" series, which began in 1995.

The rapper-cum-producer will star and produce the film with his Cube Vision production company partner, Matt Alvarez, according to Variety.

Ice Cube accepted less money upfront and partnered with Dimension to receive proceeds after the film recoups its budget, which may be as much as $10 million.

"Janky Promoters" follows two mid-level promoters that have booked a high level artist for a mid-level venue and get in over their heads.

A director is expected to be named soon and Dimension head Bob Weinstein says that the film will garner a big name rapper to play the main role. Ice Cube also recently wrapped Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst-directed "The Long Shots," in which Ice Cube starred and produced.
