In an effort to promote independent music and independent music production in Argentina, the country's Chamber of Music and Video Producers (CAPIF) has joined with the Nacional System of Public Media (SNMP) in an initiative dubbed "Argentina Discos."

"Argentina Discos" will allow independent artists to submit their work to an advisory committee that will select one act per week between now and the end of the year.

Each act will benefit from 10,000 seconds of free publicity on SNMP media, which includes national TV channel Canal 7 as well as stations on the Radio Nacional network. Each act will also be allowed to play a free performance at Radio Nacional's auditorium. The "Argentina Discos" initiative is open to indie acts and labels of all genres.

Acts that have already been chosen for "Argentina Discos" include Maria Graña, Dante SPinetta, Zeta Bosio, Tremor, Antonio Birabent, Miguel Cantilo, Horacio Fontova and Andrés Giménez.
