Super Cassettes Industries Ltd (SCIL), parent company of leading Mumbai-based Bollywood label and film production company T-Series, has obtained an interim injunction from the Delhi High Court against Yahoo Inc. and its Mumbai-based subsidiary, Yahoo Web Services India, preventing the portal from streaming content owned by T-Series.

T-Series marketing VP Vinod Bhanushali says SCIL sent Yahoo India a legal notice on Feb. 27. He says Yahoo's reply was to take refuge under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

"We objected and sent another notice in March with a list of infringing material on Yahoo," Bhanushali says. "The matter then went to court."

The May 30 injunction restricts Yahoo from streaming any T-Series content. Bhanushali says the case will come up for hearing in September.

Yahoo did not reply to requests for comment.

SCIL previously obtained a similar restraining order against Google and YouTube in November, the first such action by an Indian entertainment company against Google. That case is scheduled to be heard in July.
