Noel Schajris, one half of soulful Mexican pop duo Sin Bandera, has signed a deal with performance society SESAC for representation of public performance of his works in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Born in Argentina and naturalized as a Mexican citizen, Schajris was already established as a songwriter when he joined forces with Leonel García in 2000 to create Sin Bandera. The duo, on Sony BMG Norte, would become one of the most successful new pop acts of the decade.

Shcarjis’ catalogue includes some 150 recorded works, many performed by other acts. They will continue to be administered outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico by SACM, Mexico’s society of authors and composers.

Sin Bandera is currently playing its final tour before Schajris and García definitely separate in July.

Schajris has plans to release a solo album.
