-Anthony David, Eric Roberson, Malina Moye, Sy Smith, Lina, Liv Warfield and 2007 Grammy nominee Vikter Duplaix are among the independent soul singer/songwriters who are participating in the second annual I Got Soul Conference (IGSC) in Dallas (June 13-15).

Established by Dallas-based multimedia company Neo Soul Cafe, the conference includes a tribute concert and award show hosted by actor/musician Malcom-Jamal Warner and featuring special guest Talib Kweli.

-In addition to “Unwrapped Vol. 5.0: The Collipark Cafe Sessions” (June 24), Hidden Beach Recordings is ramping up two more releases. The label has signed Tony Rich, whose first album for the label will be titled “Exist.” It’s due later this year.

Under the moniker Tony Rich Project, Rich scored an R&B (No. 11) and pop hit (No. 2) in 1995 with “Nobody Knows.” Slated for release at the top of the year is a third album by Philadelphia-based husband-and-wife duo Kindred.

-Grammy-winning singers Patti Austin and Siedah Garrett are joining forces to record an all-female version of the Quincy Jones hit “The Secret Garden.”

Co-written by Garrett, the song originally featured Al B. Sure!, James Ingram, El DeBarge and Barry White. It reached No. 1 on the R&B chart in 1990. Once the two remaining slots are filled, Austin and Garrett plan to record the song next month (July) in Los Angeles. It will be a featured track on Garrett’s upcoming solo project.
