Columbia Records will release the soundtrack to 2008 Sundance fave "American Teen," a documentary about teenagers growing up in Warsaw, Ind., on July 15.

Among the artists featured on the soundtrack are The Ting Tings, Black Kids, MGMT and Does It Offend You, Yeah?

"When I approached the music for this movie, I wanted the musical choices to be inspired by the playlists of the featured teenagers," says director Nanette Burstein, who was nominated for an Academy Award for best documentary in 2000 for "On the Ropes." "Throughout the year of filming, I would download as much music and I could from their iPods. I think the sum really captures the emotions that these five seniors experienced throughout their final year of high school."

Currently "American Teen" is making the rounds of the film festival circuit, and on June 25, the soundtrack's Sunny Day Sets Fire will perform in conjunction with the film's screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

The film will be released wide by Paramount Vantage on July 25.
