Rapper Juelz Santana has signed a 50/50 joint venture with Island Def Jam for his own new imprint, SkullGang Records.

Santana - also a member of the Harlem rap group, the Diplomats - has released two albums, "From Me to U" and "What The Game's Been Missing," through a prior deal with Diplomat Records.

Island Def Jam purchased Santana's contract and brokered a JV deal with the artist for Skullgang. It was not clear at press time how many albums the deal covers.

Santana's sophomore album has moved 691,000 copies to-date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. A representative for Santana declined to comment, but according to Web site Missinfo.com, he is now prepping his third album, "Born To Lose, Built To Win," as well as an as-yet-untitled mixtape.
