Kenny Lattimore, best known for his top 10 R&B hit "For You," returns Sept. 9 with his first solo album in seven years.

"Timeless" marks Lattimore's debut album under a new pact with Verve Records. Its 11 tracks find the singer reinterpreting classic songs by artists ranging from the Beatles ("And I Love Her") and Jeff Buckley ("Everybody Here Wants You") to Aretha Franklin ("Ain't No Way"). The project's first single is the '70s-era Norman Connors/Michael Henderson hit, "You Are My Starship." Collaborating with Lattimore on "Timeless" was veteran musician/producer/arranger Barry Eastmond (Whitney Houston, Britney Spears).

The singer's two most recent releases have been duet albums with his wife, Chanté Moore: 2003's "Things That Lovers Do" and 2006's "Uncovered/Covered."
