The U.K.'s Performing Right Society (PRS) has reported that a record number of its members appear in the nominations for this year's MOBO Awards, held Oct. 15 at London's Wembley Arena.

Sixteen artists have been given the honor, including all those named in the best U.K. female category and four of the five best U.K. male nominees.

PRS chairman, Ellis Rich commented on the collecting society’s event sponsorship of the 2008 MOBOs. "We are excited to be part of this year's MOBO Awards, as the various genres labelled as 'MOBO Music' are a significant and growing part of the U.K.'s music industry," he said in a statement. "Our sponsorship of the MOBO Awards helps us to celebrate and recognize the diversity of the U.K. industry and of our membership."
