-Online playlist service MixWit is the next to shut down. Without citing specific reasons, the company says it will turn off the website and all profiles on it by Dec. 27.

-The NPD Group reports that year-over-year consumer demand for music among Internet users in the U.S. dropped 2% in the third quarter. That includes purchased CDs, digital music downloads, P2P files and other online sources.

-Mobile payments firm mBlox says mobile operators in the U.K. are charging as much as $15 in network charges for downloading a single music track, depending on the customer's data plan.
