London-based law firm Sound Advice (Legal) LL has recruited Paul Kernick and Crispin Evans to its legal team.

Kernick was previously director of business affairs at Sanctuary Records and Virgin Records. Evans has held legal and business affairs positions at EMI Music Publishing, PolyGram Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing and the MCPS-PRS Alliance.

Sound Advice (Legal) LLP was formed in April 2008 by Robert Horsfall and Sonia Diwan, previously partners at Lee & Thompson, and Alan Lander, previously of Russells and Simkins. Lander also held roles at BMG Records and EMI Records.

The firm focuses on the representation of talent and artist management and handles due diligence work for labels and publishers. The firm's clients include Yusuf Islam, Pendulum, Stargate, Paul Oakenfold and Doves.

There is also an accountancy practice operating out of the same building, Sound Advice (Financial) LLP, and a sister artist management company, Connected Artists.

"It is a privilege to have Paul and Crispin join us. There aren't many lawyers with their in-house experience," said Robert Horsfall in a statement. "Both will be enormous assets to us and our clients, particularly in these times of dramatic change for the music industry.
