The veteran German hard rock band the Scorpions will get the German Echo lifetime achievement award at the televised ceremony at Berlin O2 World on Feb. 21.

The band, which started in 1965 and claims sales of 75 million records worldwide, will perform a medley of their hits.

"Worldwide the Scorpions are one of the top bands," said Gerd Gebhardt, executive producer of the Echo Awards, in a statement. "They started their way from Hanover's clubs to the biggest arenas of the world. Over four decades, their music has touched people of all different ages and cultures."

Last year the Scorpions played concerts for more than 150,000 fans in South America, and partnered with Greenpeace on a campaign to save the rainforests.
