- George Harrison's son Dhani Harrison says Apple Corps is considering establishing its own digital download service to sell the Beatles catalog rather than license through iTunes.

- AT&T is now offering iPhones without the required two-year contract, raising the price of the un-subsidized devices to $600 for the 8 GB version and $700 for the 16 GB. Customer do have to sign up for the unlimited data plan, however.

- Social media network BuzzNet, of which Universal Music Group is an investor, has changed its name to Buzz Media and scored $12.5 million in new financing.
